I definitely don't think I will be winning mother of the year this month. To start it off, Austin tripped and ended up with a broken arm from the fall the beginning of the month. A week later he broke his OTHER arm doing the same thing. That same week, Thomas got a hold of a bottle of Benadryl and drained 1/3 of a large bottle. After a call to Poison Control, he was border line needing me to take him in for treatment. He had dilated pupils, was confused, had shaky hands....it was scary and I was on pins and needles all day just waiting for the sign that he needed to be seen by the ER doc. Add to that today - he managed to get a hold of a spray bottle full of bleach laundry treatment and sprayed down the pile of laundry I had in the corner, the towels in the dryer, and my boots, the wall.....and....well, yep. Mother of the year, right here! Oh, and I forgot that Austin managed to reach a knife on the counter, dropped it, and it was millimeters from poking his eye out. Instead he ended up with a tiny cut right on the outside corner of his eye. How in the world does any child survive to his 18th birthday? We are barely surviving January. And I almost forgot, we somehow managed to pop Austin's cast off 2 days after he'd gotten it on (after clinic hours) and so we had to cut it open, put it back on, and duck tape it shut until I could get him in to the doctor the next day. OH, and I forgot we had another poison control call earlier this month when Clint and I had a miscommunication and we both gave Thomas a dose of his sleeping medication. Seriously. Let's pray February is a safer month for all of us.
